A PROFOUND DISCONNECT: PAGES FROM THE IKHWAN MUSLIMIN

To quaint unenlightened religious celebrities and many others who are very much unaware of the critical state of the ummah, being complicit in denigrating and condemning the Muslim Brotherhood is nothing more than wayward commentary and sheer foolishness. They made the fundamental error of saying something they know not. Another principle transgressed is not doing anything in stopping the oppressor and not helping the oppressed. Another maxim crossed is the lack of oversight, checking the facts before coming to a conclusion. But the greatest of all is not recognizing and an abject failure in getting to know who are their own brothers and sisters in the struggle for Islam, freedom and justice.

They seem aloof and out of touch with reality, full of indifference and lacking in the knowing the true situation of their very brothers and sisters who are engaged in a precarious struggle, what they suffered and went through and what harshness they are going to face. They do not seem to care, another essential mistake.

They are so naïve that they do not comprehend the ongoing effort to literally exterminate the Muslim Brotherhood through sets of plots and series of strategic moves deviously planned. Global forces are apparently working very hard to shut down the Muslim Brotherhood and all its networks worldwide. The sworn enemies of the Brotherhood are said to have drawn the Ikhwan into an elaborate trap, say some, to expose their leadership and intricate organization. Their strength tested and seemingly breached. The Egyptian people’s support and resilience wanes easily. The general population are too hard up and hard pressed to grasp the larger issues at hand. Even mass murder fails to move the Egyptian people’s conscience nor the world for that matter. The people still prefer strongmen even if along then way they lose their dignity, freedom and rights. They are still Mubarak’s children incapable of going beyond a once glorious revolution – the Arab Spring.

Either they are completely ignorant of facts or are simply covering up their ears, eyes and senses, suppressing their consciousness at the plight of their brothers and sisters who made a stand in the name of religion, justice and humanity. The Ikhwan Muslimin were only recently massacred openly while performing their fajr prayers. They were then butchered when Egyptian security forces violently stormed their camps in Raba’a Square. The masjid they were taking shelter was partly burned down by the gruesome attack which saw thousands of unarmed men, women and children being shot,  killed and maimed. Many seem not to notice that there was a group of  young female Ikhwan supporters who were sentenced for up to 16 years imprisonment. 529 Ikhwan supporters are now on death row in an unprecedented mockery of a trial  making it to the book of world records and history. Albeit a dark history and another black mark in Egypt’s corrupt narrative as well as a dirty blotch to the world community which allowed such a ludicrous thing to happen.

An elected president is toppled and is being tried as a common criminal for murder but those who were killed were his own supporters and the killers were members of their own national army and security forces who were supposed to protect them as citizens. His supporters have been sentenced to death by large numbers. Arab states especially the rich Gulf nations are suppressing the Ikhwan, banning them and demonizing them. Arab states which owe heavily Ikhwan who since the 60’s provided the manpower, intellectual and professional capability to develop their education, commerce and industry. Europe is already beginning through UK in mulling shutting down the Ikhwan and labeling it as they labeled  al Qaeda, simply designating them as terrorists.

Eloquent speakers here and there rather relish talking of the End of Days and the coming of the Beast wowing their mesmerized audience with tales beyond but are quite hapless and totally unprepared for comprehending such calamity in real terms. They seem not to realize that among the oft spoken signs are that there will come a time where the forces of  truth are painted as false and vice versa – the people fall for them.

In terms of the etiquette of learning, respecting and honouring teachers, there is a profound gap – a disconnect. There was this religious celebrity who recites al ma’thurat for the public but is oblivious to the fact the al ma’thurat comes from the traditions of the Ikhwan. How pathetic and how tragic.
